Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign 20-year-old English winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in a transfer reportedly worth £55 million.
The move, concluded while both clubs are in the United States for the Club World Cup, will see Gittens sign a seven-year contract, though some details remain to be finalised.
Gittens, who joined Dortmund’s academy from Manchester City in 2020, made his senior debut two years later and has since clocked up 107 appearances and scored 17 goals for the Bundesliga side.
Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken described him as “an example of the development of top talents at Borussia,” praising his progress from youth prospect to first-team regular.
Chelsea are seeking to bolster their left wing options after deciding not to pursue a permanent deal for Jadon Sancho following his loan from Manchester United.
Gittens’s arrival is seen as part of a long-term rebuild at Stamford Bridge.
