Alexander Isak is increasingly leaning toward a move to Liverpool, with the Newcastle striker now firmly in the Merseyside club’s sights following Luis Diaz’s impending departure to Bayern Munich.

The Sweden international has reportedly grown disillusioned at Newcastle after protracted and unsuccessful contract talks, which began quietly last season.

Despite his importance to the team, Isak remained on a £110,000-a-week deal, earning less than fellow striker Callum Wilson and significantly less than Anthony Gordon, whose new contract caused tension behind the scenes.

That moment proved pivotal. Since then, Isak’s camp has viewed the club’s direction with unease, and recent negotiations have only widened the gap.

With Diaz set to leave, Liverpool are pushing forward, and sources indicate that a formal bid for Isak is imminent.

Newcastle are reluctant to sell and would only entertain an offer north of the British transfer record, currently held by Florian Wirtz’s £116.5 million move to Bayer Leverkusen.

But Liverpool, fresh off heavy investment this summer, appear ready to break the bank again.

Isak has not been involved in Newcastle’s pre-season activities and is believed to be focused on forcing a move. For the 24-year-old, Anfield represents the step up he has long envisioned.
