Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has declared that he remains a committed and bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayemi made this known during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at the residence of the state’s first civilian governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, in Iyin-Ekiti.
Addressing party faithful, Fayemi stated that no genuine member of the APC would wish for the party to lose any election, reaffirming his full support for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The meeting was attended by key political figures, including Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, other serving and former members of the National Assembly, and party stalwarts from across the state.
Fayemi disclosed that he had met with some aggrieved members of the APC and that all outstanding issues and misunderstandings within the party had been amicably resolved.
He charged members to return to their units and wards to mobilise grassroots support for the party ahead of future elections.
The former Minister of Mines and Steel Development also warned against over-reliance on social media influence, stressing that “elections are not won on Twitter or Facebook” but through sustained engagement with the electorate.
