Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has debunked viral social media rumours claiming he suffered a heart attack, dismissing them as false and politically motivated.
In a video shared on X by his media aide, Lere Olayinka (Aresa 1), Wike appeared relaxed and in good spirits as he mocked those behind the speculation, wishing them “more heart attacks” for spreading what he called baseless lies.
“I hear they have heart attack. God will continue to help them to have heart attack,” Wike said with a smile.
The former Rivers State governor went further, joking that he was ready to write condolence messages when the ill wishes of his critics backfired.
“It is my prayer I will sign their condolences. Very soon I will write a letter saying, ‘We are sorry we loved him, but take heart, because it is God that gives and God that takes,’” he said.
Wike condemned the trend of politicising false information and questioned the source of the rumour.
“See where we are now. We play politics with everything. How somebody can sit down and write all kinds of things — where the person saw me, I don’t know; the hospital he saw me, I don’t know,” he added.
The speculation about Wike’s health had dominated discussions earlier in the week, but his video response appears to have put the rumours to rest.
