Frankfurt Thrash Galatasaray in Five-Star UCL Opener

Eintracht Frankfurt launched their UEFA Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Galatasaray, condemning the Turkish side to a seventh straight winless away game in Europe.

Yunus Akgun’s early strike gave Galatasaray the lead, but Frankfurt turned the contest on its head before half-time.

A Davinson Sanchez own goal, Can Uzun’s emphatic finish, and Jonathan Burkardt’s header sent the hosts into the break 3-1 up.

Burkardt added a second after the restart before Ansgar Knauff sealed the rout, punishing the visitors’ missed chances as the Eagles cruised to the end.
