Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has set the record straight following viral reports suggesting she was open to becoming a second wife. The award-winning singer clarified that her earlier remarks were made out of frustration and emotional pain, not genuine interest in polygamy.

In a recent video shared online, the 45-year-old star explained that her comments on the American podcast Air Service had been misinterpreted. During the podcast, Tiwa had joked about the limited pool of eligible men, saying most were either in their 50s or already married — remarks that quickly sparked online debates.

“If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know… maybe I can be a second wife,” she had said during the show.

However, Tiwa has now clarified her stance, revealing that the statement came from a place of emotional exhaustion after past heartbreaks. “I was a first wife — where did that get me? I got married as the only wife, but here we are. I’m tired of being heartbroken,” she said.

The mother of one stressed that being a second wife is not her desire and that she was merely expressing vulnerability. “It’s not my choice, though. I don’t want to. I wish I could tell my truth, but I will be dragged,” Tiwa added.

Her candid response has since reignited discussions about love, marriage, and societal pressure on women in the entertainment industry.
