Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong says the team is now fully focused on Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup African Qualifier playoff against Gabon after resolving a bonus dispute that briefly disrupted preparations.
The Super Eagles skipped training on Tuesday in protest over unpaid bonuses reportedly dating back to 2019.
However, Troost-Ekong confirmed on X that the issue had been settled with the Nigeria Football Federation.
“Issue resolved. Outstanding financials cleared and team is UNITED and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum for the games ahead,” he wrote.
Nigeria face Gabon in Rabat on Thursday in the semi-final of the African Qualifier playoffs.
The winner will meet either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo in Sunday’s final, with a spot in the intercontinental playoffs for the 2026 World Cup at stake.
