Nigeria’s Super Eagles fell to a 2-1 defeat against Portugal in an international friendly
in Leiria on Wednesday night.

The hosts took an early lead through Pedro Neto, but Nigeria responded
impressively before the break, when Akor Adams finished calmly to draw the visitors
level.

The Super Eagles remained organised after half-time and matched Portugal for long
spells as both teams searched for a decisive goal.

However, with the game seemingly heading for a draw, Francisco Conceição curled
home a fine finish to hand the hosts victory.

Despite the defeat, Nigeria produced a competitive display against World Cup-bound
opposition and created several encouraging moments throughout the contest.
