The National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) resulted in the expulsion of several prominent figures, including Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the FCT and former Governor of Rivers State; Mr. Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State; and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary facing controversies. Other individuals expelled include Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN; Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; George Turner; and Hon. Umar Bature.

The motion for the expulsion, brought forth by Chief Olabode George, the former Deputy Chairman (South) of the PDP, was based on their disruptive activities that were deemed detrimental to the party’s integrity.

During the convention, Senator Ben Obi, Secretary of the National Convention Organising Committee, proposed a motion regarding whether the gathering should proceed as an Elective Convention. This motion was seconded by Mr. Emmanuel Enoidem, SAN. Additionally, Governor Seyi Makinde introduced a motion to ratify and confirm the Executive Committees and Structures established in states through congresses that adhered to the party’s constitution and were monitored by INEC and security agencies, with the exception of Imo, Abia, Enugu, and Rivers states. Mr. Daniel Obiechina Okechukwu supported this motion.

Furthermore, the convention voted to dissolve the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and proposed amendments to certain sections of the party’s constitution.
