Cameroon Start AFCON with Narrow Win Over Gabon

Cameroon opened their 2025 AFCON campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Gabon in Group F.

Karl Etta Eyong scored the only goal inside seven minutes after being set up by Bryan Mbeumo, who continued his strong run of form for the Indomitable Lions.

Cameroon had chances to extend their lead through Danny Namaso and Mbeumo, but Gabon grew into the game, especially after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was introduced.

The Panthers created late pressure and forced key saves, yet Cameroon showed composure and defensive discipline to see out the win.

The Indomitable Lions now look ahead to a crucial second group match against Ivory Coast.
