Liam Rosenior has flown to London to finalise his expected appointment as Chelsea head coach, with talks understood to be at an advanced stage.
As first reported by BBC Sport, the Strasbourg boss is the leading candidate to replace Enzo Maresca, who recently left Stamford Bridge. The 41-year-old is in the capital to complete formalities ahead of an announcement.
“There’s a chance the new manager will be in on Monday,” caretaker boss Calum McFarlane said after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Manchester City. “As far as I know, the new manager will be in shortly and I’ll lead the team until he’s in.”
BlueCo, Chelsea’s ownership group, has begun the process of identifying a replacement for Rosenior at sister club Strasbourg, with former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil among those linked.
Rosenior took charge of Strasbourg’s draw at Nice on Saturday and was later pictured at the airport alongside sporting director David Weir, as negotiations continue behind the scenes.
