Breaking News: January Salaries in Focus Under New Tax Laws – NRS Chairman Adedeji Advises Workers
Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, has urged lower-income earners to pay attention to their January salaries to observe the effects of the new tax regulations in comparison to previous laws.
During an appearance on TVC’s Journalists Hangout on Tuesday, Adedeji noted that these income earners would see a reduction in their tax obligations, which will be reflected in their January 2026 paychecks.
He emphasized that the revised tax laws aim to safeguard citizens rather than impose additional financial strain.
The new regulations specify that essential items, such as food and transportation, will be exempt from transaction taxes, thereby protecting Nigerians’ disposable income.
“By the end of January, those in lower income brackets will be able to see the difference in their salaries compared to the old tax framework,” he remarked.
He also urged the public to disregard any misinformation circulating about the new tax laws.
“As we approach the middle of January, it’s clear that the rumors have no basis,” he concluded.
