Breaking News: Ondo Monarch Oba Kehinde Falodun murdered inside his palace
A tragic incident occurred in Akure North Local Government Area, where Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community, was fatally attacked by suspected armed assailants in his palace.
Reports indicate that around ten attackers stormed the royal residence on Wednesday evening, allegedly attempting to abduct the traditional ruler and his family. Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene, with gunfire erupting as the gunmen arrived.
The Olori, who escaped the attack, recounted how some of the assailants remained outside while others entered the palace. “They just came in shooting. I fled into the bushes after they shot at me, but I was not hit,” she stated.
When their abduction attempt failed, the attackers became violent, inflicting fatal injuries on the monarch.
The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State confirmed the incident through spokesman DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who reported receiving a distress call at approximately 7:50 p.m. from a local community leader. He stated that the armed intruders forcibly took the monarch from his compound, fleeing the scene afterward. The traditional ruler was later discovered nearby with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response, the police mobilized the Divisional Police Officer and tactical teams, alongside local security groups, including the Amotekun Corps and vigilante hunters, to search the surrounding areas for the attackers. Authorities have heightened security measures in the vicinity, assuring residents that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend those responsible for this tragic act.
