Gospel singer Adeyinka Alaseyori has publicly apologised for comments she made regarding the recent kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, saying she never intended to downplay the concerns and anguish of affected families.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the singer said she became aware that many Nigerians were offended by an earlier statement she made about the incident.

Alaseyori explained that while her intention was to encourage prayers and express confidence that authorities were working to restore peace, some members of the public interpreted her remarks as dismissive of the widespread anxiety over the abductions.

“I did a video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching on the government, parastatals, and every agency. But when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard,” she said.

The gospel artiste offered a heartfelt apology to mothers and families directly affected by the tragedy, stressing that she would never intentionally disregard their pain.

“You know me too well that I would never make you feel like that. Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon and forgive me,” she added.

Her apology follows criticism that trailed an earlier video in which she urged Nigerians to continue praying over the country’s security challenges while maintaining that the government was making efforts to address the situation.

The abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire LGA has sparked nationwide outrage, with citizens and advocacy groups calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the safe return of the victims.
