President Bola Tinubu on Thursday delivered a nationwide Democracy Day address, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to democratic governance, economic reforms, national unity and the security of Nigerians.

The President used the occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration to reflect on the country’s democratic journey, pay tribute to the heroes of the June 12 struggle and outline his government’s vision for the future.

Tinubu hailed the resilience of Nigerians and the sacrifices made by pro-democracy activists whose efforts helped secure the return to civilian rule.

He reiterated his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, upholding the rule of law and ensuring that government remains accountable to the people.

The President also addressed key national issues, including economic reforms, job creation, infrastructure development and efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

According to him, while the nation continues to face significant challenges, his administration remains focused on delivering policies aimed at improving the lives of citizens and building a more prosperous Nigeria.

Tinubu called on Nigerians to remain united, reject divisive politics and actively participate in the democratic process.

He stressed that democracy thrives when citizens remain engaged, law-abiding and committed to national development.

The Democracy Day address formed part of activities marking 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria since 1999.
