Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of Abia South has accused President Tinubu of nepotism, suggesting that Nigeria would be in a better state had Peter Obi won the 2023 presidential election. This statement was made during his appearance on Channels TV’s “Politics Today” on Monday night, as monitored by “the beacon” newsroom.

Senator Abaribe expressed strong confidence in Obi’s potential for transparent governance, stating, “He would not be as nepotistic as this government; it’s simply not in his nature. We genuinely care about others.” He highlighted an instance of nepotism by pointing out that President Tinubu’s administration has appointed four ministers from Ogun State, questioning why Ogun has such a disproportionate representation compared to Oyo State, which has only one minister.

Abaribe also encouraged the people of the South-East to take control of their own destiny rather than waiting for the central government to provide for them. He emphasized the need for self-sufficiency in development, remarking, “If we continue to rely on the president to treat us fairly, we will be disappointed. Apart from Obasanjo and possibly Jonathan, fairness has been lacking.”

Regarding the recent arrest of Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa by the Finnish government, Abaribe welcomed the development, referring to Ekpa as a “content creator.” He remarked that this arrest should serve as a warning to those promoting violence at home, noting that Ekpa has claimed to merely be a content creator.
