A woman identified as Deborah has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stabbing two of her friends, Adebayo Omokehinde and Kolapo Aishat, during a violent altercation in the Aiyetoro area of the state.

According to the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, the suspect committed the crime on January 30, 2025, after a heated dispute escalated into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, Deborah allegedly used a broken bottle to stab the victims multiple times, inflicting severe injuries on their breasts, hands, eyes, and other parts of their bodies.

Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled the scene in an attempt to evade arrest. However, police operatives launched an intensive manhunt, and after nearly two weeks on the run, she was apprehended on February 12, 2025.

Confirming the arrest, Odutola revealed that Deborah confessed to the crime during interrogation. “Deborah allegedly stabbed them multiple times in a vicious assault that left both victims in critical condition. The suspect immediately absconded, evading arrest for nearly two weeks. However, luck ran out for her when our officers successfully apprehended her,” she said.

The police spokesperson further stated that medical reports had been issued to the victims, who were promptly directed to a general hospital for urgent medical treatment. Authorities have assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that upon its completion, the suspect will be charged in court to face prosecution.

The case has sparked concerns over rising incidents of violent altercations leading to severe injuries and fatalities. In a similar incident reported in January, a 22-year-old woman, Iyanu Adedeji, was arrested in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta for allegedly stabbing her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death. Adedeji reportedly turned herself in at a local Divisional Police Station following the incident.

The Ogun State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order across the state. The authorities have also urged residents to seek peaceful conflict resolution methods rather than resorting to violence, which often results in tragic consequences.
