Jose Mourinho has been accused of making racist comments following Fenerbahce’s fiery goalless draw against rivals Galatasaray on Monday.

The Istanbul derby, notorious for its intensity, descended into chaos with flares disrupting play, seven yellow cards issued, and tensions running high both on and off the pitch.

Mourinho, who has been vocal about refereeing decisions since taking over at Fenerbahce, praised Slovenian official Slavko Vincic after the match, suggesting a Turkish referee would have handled things differently.

However, his post-match remarks sparked outrage when he described Galatasaray’s bench as “jumping like monkeys.”

Galatasaray swiftly condemned Mourinho’s comments, releasing a statement under the hashtag #SayNoToRacism.

The club accused the Portuguese coach of repeatedly making derogatory remarks about Turkish people and announced plans to take legal action, including filing complaints with UEFA and FIFA.

“We formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings regarding the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho,” the statement read, calling on Fenerbahce to take a stance against their manager’s conduct.

Mourinho has yet to respond to the allegations.
