The Ghana national football team has named Carlos Queiroz as head coach on a short-
term deal ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The experienced Portuguese has been tasked with leading Ghana to the quarter-
finals, with a two-year contract on offer if he meets that target.
Queiroz replaces Otto Addo, who was sacked following heavy defeats to Austria and
Germany.
Describing the role as a mission, Queiroz said he arrives with “passion and
commitment” and believes Ghana can “honour the expectations of a great football
nation.”
The 72-year-old brings vast international experience and will quickly assess his
squad ahead of the tournament, where Ghana face England, Panama, and Croatia in
the group stage.
