The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of Mrs Busayo Adelabu-John Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and her two sons.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, announced the development in a brief statement issued on Saturday night.

Mrs. Adelabu-John Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted on June 3 while she was taking the children to school in Ibadan.

According to reports, armed gunmen intercepted the family at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan and forcibly whisked them away.

The incident sparked concern across Oyo State and beyond due to Adelabu’s profile as a former minister and a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress.

Reacting to the rescue, Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government, security agencies, the media, friends and well-wishers for their support throughout the ordeal.

Awogboro confirmed that Mrs Adelabu-John Paul and her sons were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their family.

Authorities have not yet disclosed details of the operation that led to their rescue or whether any arrests were made in connection with the kidnapping.
