RUTTER BREAKS SPURS HEART WITH LAST-GASP EQUALISER.
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a crushing late blow in their fight for survival as
Georginio Rutter struck in the 95th minute to earn Brighton & Hove Albion a 2-2
draw.
Spurs, desperate for points, had taken the lead through Pedro Porro after an
improved first-half showing. Kaoru Mitoma pulled Brighton level with a brilliant volley,
but Xavi Simons restored Tottenham’s advantage with a powerful strike from
distance.
With victory in sight, Spurs failed to hold on as Rutter was left unmarked deep into
stoppage time to fire home and snatch a crucial point.
The result extends Tottenham’s winless league run to 15 matches and leaves them
firmly in relegation trouble, while Brighton’s late goal could prove vital in the survival
battle.
