The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the inclusion of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. Describing the policy shift as a landmark in the pursuit of equity and educational advancement, NAPS commended the administration’s determination to reviving Nigeria’s education sector. The national president of the association, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan also hailed the Minister of Education, Dr. Mamud Olatunji Alausa for his responsiveness and unwavering support in addressing student’s concerns.

Oghayan underscored the sustained advocacy that led to the decision—noting strategic engagements by NAPS with key institutions such as the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). He attributed the success to the commitment of past and present student leaders, specifically commending his predecessor, Comrade Munirudeen Ridwan Opeyemi. NAPS also expressed appreciation to the NBTE, polytechnic rectors and other education stakeholders for their roles in facilitating a smooth implementation process.

The association urged students to comply with NYSC mobilization guidelines—warning that non-compliance may affect their eligibility. NAPS called on all qualified HND graduates to proceed promptly with mobilization—affirming its ongoing commitment to student welfare and advocacy.
