CUSTECH Expels Eight Students Over Exam Malpractice in Kogi
The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology has expelled eight students for their involvement in examination malpractice during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The decision was disclosed in a statement signed by the university’s Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr. Eli Gbadufu, and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the expulsions were approved by the university Senate during its 30th regular meeting held on April 29, 2026, following recommendations from the Examination Misconduct Committee.
The university explained that investigations carried out by the committee found the students guilty of violating academic regulations as contained in the institution’s Student Handbook.
“The expulsion followed investigations by the Examination Misconduct Committee into violations recorded during the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session,” the statement read.
The affected students were identified as Ogedemgbe A. Nelson (100 Level, Economics), Yakubu Abdulrazak Adavize (300 Level, Library and Information Science), Olowu Samuel Ayomide (200 Level, Mining Engineering), Usman Bilal (400 Level, Information Technology), Adams Michael (200 Level, Information Technology), Ale David (200 Level, Mechanical Engineering), Habiba Muhammed (100 Level, Business Administration), and Mustapha Faith Adetutu (200 Level, Agricultural Science).
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy on academic dishonesty, the institution stressed its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline and integrity across all faculties.
The university also urged students to comply with academic rules and avoid actions capable of damaging the credibility of its educational system.
“The move signals CUSTECH’s determination to preserve the value of its degrees and maintain discipline across all faculties as it continues to grow as Kogi State’s premier science and technology university,” the statement added.
