Cross River PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate Resigns from Party

The deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Cross River State election, Dr. Emana Ambrose-Amawhe has announced her withdrawal from the party.

In a letter dated March 28, 2025 which was addressed to the chairman of Edem Odo Ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, she expressed that her departure was effective immediately. Ambrose-Amawhe conveyed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the party’s growth and serve as a candidate in the last election. She characterized the decision as a difficult one but stressed her commitment to serving the people of Cross River State and Nigeria in other roles.

Reflecting on the party’s present state, she clarified that after careful deliberation, she felt it was time to move on. Ambrose-Amawhe was the running mate to Senator Sandy Onor in the 2023 governorship election and had previously contested for the Bakassi/Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the PDP.
