Leicester City have been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League over alleged breaches of financial rules during their time in the Championship in the 2023-24 season.

A tribunal ruled that while the Premier League cannot punish the club for any profit and sustainability breaches from their 2022-23 top-flight campaign, it can investigate alleged violations of EFL rules after their relegation.

The commission will also look into two other alleged breaches: Leicester’s failure to submit accounts by the 31 December 2024 deadline and their lack of full cooperation with Premier League inquiries.

Leicester, now back in the Championship for the second time in three years, said they will work with the league now that jurisdiction over the matter has been confirmed.
