Joao Pedro says he’s eager to make an instant impact as he eyes a potential Chelsea debut against Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Friday in Philadelphia.
The 23-year-old Brazilian forward joined the Blues from Brighton on Wednesday for £60 million and wasted no time linking up with Enzo Maresca’s squad in Miami for training.
“I’m very excited to play for Chelsea, to fight for every title, every tournament and play in the Champions League. Hopefully, we win as many trophies as possible,” Pedro said after signing an eight-year deal.
A first trophy could arrive swiftly for the new recruit, with Chelsea aiming to lift FIFA’s revamped Club World Cup just ten days from now.
Chelsea famously beat Palmeiras in the 2022 final, though none of the players from that squad remain at the club.
