Marc-André ter Stegen has been reinstated as Barcelona’s first-team captain after the club confirmed late on Friday that a disciplinary matter involving the goalkeeper had been resolved.

A statement from the Spanish champions said the necessary documents had been signed and the case was “considered closed,” restoring the 32-year-old’s armband with immediate effect.

Earlier in the day, Ter Stegen used social media to reject speculation about his conduct and to clarify his position.

He stressed his willingness to cooperate with club officials and said recent back surgery, approved by Barcelona, was undertaken to safeguard his health and career.

The Germany international added that his absence should not be linked to the club’s current financial fair play challenges, noting that all signings and contract renewals were completed before his operation.

He also voiced support for new teammates yet to be registered.

Ter Stegen faces renewed competition this season from summer signing Joan Garcia and veteran Wojciech Szczesny, who helped Barcelona secure last year’s Liga title in his absence and has since extended his contract.
