Bayern Munich claimed a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the 113th Bundesliga Klassiker, equalling Dortmund’s national record of 11 consecutive wins to start a season.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, glancing in Joshua Kimmich’s corner for his 12th league goal of the campaign.

Bayern dominated the first half, forcing several fine saves from Gregor Kobel, while Dortmund offered little in response.

The visitors improved after the break, with Felix Nmecha and Karim Adeyemi both squandering good chances to equalise.

Their wastefulness proved costly as Michael Olise capitalised on a defensive lapse from Jobe Bellingham to make it 2-0 ten minutes from time.

Julian Brandt’s late strike from Julian Ryerson’s cross set up a tense finish, but Bayern held firm to secure a statement win that stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions.

The result leaves Dortmund seven points adrift, while Bayern continue to look like early favourites to retain their crown.
