Hugo Ekitike came back to torment his former club as Liverpool roared back from a goal down to demolish Eintracht Frankfurt 5–1 in the Champions League, snapping their four-game losing streak in emphatic style.

After a blistering start to the season with seven straight wins, the Reds had stumbled badly in recent weeks, including Sunday’s bruising defeat to Manchester United.

And when Rasmus Kristensen fired Frankfurt ahead early on, it seemed another long night was looming for Arne Slot’s men.

But Liverpool’s response was ruthless. Ekitike, handed a rare start alongside record signing Alexander Isak, levelled the score ten minutes before half-time, racing on to Andy Robertson’s brilliant long pass and coolly slotting home against his former side.

That goal flipped the momentum completely. Virgil van Dijk powered in a header from a corner soon after, before Ibrahima Konate made it three with another dominant header moments before the break.

Isak failed to return for the second half after suffering a groin injury, but the damage was already done. Liverpool, rediscovering their swagger, controlled the game with ease and added gloss to the scoreline through Cody Gakpo’s composed finish from Florian Wirtz’s cross.

Dominik Szoboszlai then sealed the rout with a thunderous strike from distance, Wirtz again the provider.

It was the response Slot demanded – aggressive, clinical, and confident. After weeks of frustration, Liverpool’s European charge is firmly back on track.
