Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella is back in full team training after several weeks out with a persistent knee issue, offering a welcome lift ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
German outlet Bild described his involvement in Tuesday’s session as “good news for Bayer Leverkusen,” with the Nigerian completing most of the work for the first time since mid-September.
Tella has been sidelined since picking up a knee knock in the 3–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on 12 September, an injury that repeatedly stalled his recovery.
It remains unclear whether he will be cleared to feature against Wolfsburg on Saturday, but Bild suggested “the chances are not bad” that he could make the squad.
Tella sat out the final practice game but continued individual drills alongside Axel Tape, who is also nearing a return.
Manager Kasper Hjulmand is taking a cautious approach, prioritising a pain-free comeback.
His return arrives at an important time for Leverkusen. Arthur’s mixed form on the right flank has opened a window for Tella to reclaim his place, and the club face a packed schedule of eight games in four weeks, including meetings with Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United and RB Leipzig.
Tape is expected to be eased in gradually following a muscle-tendon issue, while Lucas Vázquez remains sidelined with back problems.
For Leverkusen, Tella’s progress offers a timely boost as they balance domestic and European commitments.
