Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly set to leave Stamford Bridge following a
breakdown in his relationship with the club’s hierarchy, according to reports.
The Guardian claims the Italian no longer wishes to continue in the role amid growing tension
with the board, with Chelsea’s recent dip in form adding to the strain.
The Blues have managed just one win in their last seven Premier League matches and endured a
mixed December across all competitions.
Maresca’s situation worsened after comments made following a win over Everton earlier this
month, which are understood to have displeased club executives.
His absence from post-match media duties after Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth has
further fuelled speculation, despite assistant coach Willy Caballero citing illness.
Fan frustration has also intensified, particularly after Maresca substituted Cole Palmer during the
Bournemouth game, prompting chants of disapproval from the stands.
There is growing belief that Maresca may not be in charge when Chelsea face Manchester City
on Sunday.
The 45-year-old guided the club to the UEFA Conference League, the FIFA Club World Cup
and a top-four finish last season, but Chelsea now sit fifth in the table, 15 points behind leaders
Arsenal.
