Moroccan referee Jalal Jiyed has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football to officiate Saturday’s third-place playoff between Nigeria and Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF also confirmed that Algerian official Lahlu Benbraham will serve as the Video Assistant Referee for the encounter.

The playoff follows semi-final disappointment for both teams, with Nigeria losing on penalties to hosts Morocco, while Egypt were edged out 1-0 by Senegal.

The match will be played at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm WAT.

Both Nigeria coach Eric Chelle and Egypt boss Hossam Hassan have stated their intention to end the tournament on a winning note.
