Everton midfielder Jack Grealish has confirmed his season is over after undergoing
surgery on a stress fracture in his foot, denting his chances of making England’s squad
for the upcoming World Cup.
The 30-year-old, on loan from Manchester City, sustained the injury during Everton’s 1-0
Premier League victory over Aston Villa last month.
He made 22 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice and providing
six assists as his improved form sparked talk of an England recall.
Grealish said he was gutted to see his campaign end early but confirmed the operation
was successful, adding that his focus is now on returning fitter and stronger.
His last appearance for England came in October 2024 under caretaker manager Lee
Carsley.
The World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico and
the United States.
