Muchova Ends Six-Year Wait with Qatar Open Crown.
Karolina Muchova lifted her first WTA 1000 title and her first trophy since 2019 with a 6-
4, 7-5 win over teenage star Victoria Mboko in the Qatar Open final.
The Czech, 29, was sharp from the outset, landing 75 per cent of her first serves in the
opening set and facing no break points.
Mokpo briefly led 4-2 in the second, but Muchova broke back twice to seal the biggest
title of her career in 94 minutes.
“It’s been a while since I won a tournament, so it’s nice to get that feeling again,”
Muchova said.
She added in praise of her opponent: “You’re still a teenager but you play with so much
maturity. I’m sure you have many titles ahead of you.”
The victory improves Muchova’s 2026 record to 12-2 and lifts her to world number 11.
Mboko, who has 13 wins this season, will make her top-10 debut despite the defeat,
saying: “It’s not the outcome I wanted but I think there’s many positives to take away.”
