Ayra Starr names Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema as her ‘Afrobeats Big 3’
Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has revealed her personal “Big 3” in Afrobeats, naming Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema as the artists she considers the most influential in the genre.
Speaking during a recent interview on Hot 97, Starr praised the trio for their impact on Afrobeats and their unique contributions to the global rise of the sound.
According to the singer, Savage represents the pioneering female force in the industry, while Wizkid embodies Afrobeats’ global success. She also highlighted Rema for pushing the boundaries of the genre with innovative sounds and new musical directions.
“My Afrobeats Big 3 would be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema. My solid Big 3,” Starr said during the interview.
Her selection notably leaves out Davido and Burna Boy, who are widely regarded alongside Wizkid as the traditional “Big 3” of Afrobeats due to their dominant influence and global success.
Starr’s choice has since sparked conversations among fans about the evolving landscape of Afrobeats and the artists shaping its next era.
