GORDON STRIKE EARNS NEWCASTLE RARE WIN AT CHELSEA.
Newcastle United dealt a blow to Chelsea’s Champions League hopes as Anthony
Gordon’s first-half goal secured a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Gordon slid in the decisive strike in the 18th minute after Joe Willock broke the
offside trap to meet Tino Livramento’s pass.
Chelsea created several chances through Cole Palmer, Alejandro Garnacho, and
Enzo Fernandez, while captain Reece James hit the post with a late free-kick, but
the hosts could not find an equaliser.
The result handed Newcastle their first away win at Stamford Bridge since 2012,
lifting them to ninth in the Premier League, while Chelsea remain fifth.
