MARSEILLE TOO SHARP FOR DULL METZ.
Olympique de Marseille sharpened their push for a top-three finish with a clinical 3-1
win over a blunt FC Metz side.
The hosts struck first on the break, with Mason Greenwood releasing Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang, who powered his finish into the top corner.
Marseille doubled their lead early in the second half in a similar fashion, as Greenwood
again led the charge before teeing up Igor Paixao for a delicate chipped finish.
Metz briefly threatened a response when Giorgi Tsitaishvili’s low strike slipped
through Geronimo Rulli, but the visitors offered little else.
The result was sealed in stoppage time, with Hamed Traore firing home from close
range to cap a dominant display.
The win lifts Marseille into the top three, while Metz remains rooted to the bottom after
another lifeless outing.
