Coordinated Attacks Rock Mali: Defence Minister and Family Among Casualties.
On April 25, 2026, a tragic event unfolded in Mali as General Sadio Camara, the Minister of Defence, was killed during a series of coordinated assaults across the nation.
The attack occurred at his home within the Kati military base, located about 15 kilometers northwest of Bamako, where a suicide vehicle bomb targeted him.
Tragically, reports confirm that his second wife and two grandchildren also lost their lives in the explosion.
The assault was claimed by Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), an extremist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda, which executed the attack in collaboration with Tuareg rebel factions.
This incident was part of a broader offensive targeting military installations, airports, and key locations in Bamako, Gao, Kidal, and Sévaré.
