Two employees of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) were abducted by armed assailants in the Ogunmakin area along the Ibadan-Ijebu expressway, Ogun State, on April 29, 2026. The workers were performing official duties at the time of the incident.

The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N40 million, with each victim’s family facing a demand of N20 million. Despite ongoing negotiations, the ransom amount remains unchanged.

Family members reported that the abductors reached out using one of the victim’s phones. In a recent video call with his wife, both hostages appeared to be severely beaten and in distressing condition. Their families are increasingly alarmed for their safety, fearing for their lives without urgent intervention.

One of the victims is related to the source of this report, and family members described the situation as devastating, highlighting the serious injuries suffered by the captives.

Concern has grown as the families claim that when they contacted IBEDC headquarters, they were advised to manage the situation independently, with the company reportedly stating it was not their responsibility. This has raised significant alarm, given that the workers were on official duty during the attack.

The families are urgently appealing to security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Amotekun Corps, to take immediate action to rescue the victims.

Additionally, they have called on the Ogun State Government and the Federal Ministry of Power to intervene and facilitate the safe return of the abducted workers. The families are also urging the public to disseminate this information widely to garner attention and expedite rescue efforts.
