Mathys Tel endured a mixed evening as Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw
by Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday.

The French forward gave Spurs the lead early in the second half with a brilliant strike
into the top corner after a closely contested opening period in North London.

However, Tel’s night quickly turned sour when he attempted an overhead clearance and
struck Ethan Ampadu in the face inside the penalty area, allowing Dominic Calvert-
Lewin to equalise from the spot for Leeds.

Leeds nearly snatched victory late on, but Antonin Kinský produced an excellent
save to deny Sean Longstaff in stoppage time.

Tottenham pushed for a winner through substitute James Maddison, but a late penalty
appeals were waved away as both sides settled for a point.

The result keeps Leeds firmly involved in the relegation battle with two matches
remaining.
