Trae Young delivered a stunning half-court buzzer-beater to lift the Atlanta Hawks to a dramatic 124-121 victory over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
Young, who finished with 24 points and 20 assists, silenced the Salt Lake City crowd after Collin Sexton’s late three-pointer had tied the game with four seconds remaining.
The victory pushed the Hawks to 19-18, despite a 35-point performance from Utah’s Lauri Markkanen.
In Denver, the Boston Celtics defeated the shorthanded Nuggets 118-106 in a clash of the past two NBA champions.
Jayson Tatum led the reigning champions with 29 points, while Kristaps Porzingis added 25, including 15 in the first quarter.
Denver, playing without three-time MVP Nikola Jokic due to illness, fought back to tie the game 57-57 at halftime.
However, a decisive 15-0 Celtics run in the fourth quarter sealed the game. Russell Westbrook’s 26 points weren’t enough to prevent Denver’s loss.
