Iga Swiatek powered into the Australian Open semi-finals with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Emma Navarro on Wednesday.
The world number two delivered a dominant performance on Rod Laver Arena, securing her spot in the final four for the second time in Melbourne.
Swiatek’s win, however, was not without controversy. In the second set, she reached a drop shot that appeared to have bounced twice, a decision that frustrated Navarro but was not overturned.
The Polish star will now face Madison Keys, who battled past Elina Svitolina in three sets earlier in the day.
Swiatek, with a 4-1 head-to-head record against Keys, acknowledged the challenge ahead, recalling a tough previous loss to the American.
Despite Navarro’s strong effort in the second set, Swiatek remained in control, breaking serve at crucial moments to close out the match in straight sets.
With defending champion Aryna Sabalenka already through to the other semi-final, Swiatek looks poised for a deep run as she continues her impressive form, having dropped just 14 games in the tournament so far.
