SABALENKA COMPLETES SUNSHINE DOUBLE WITH MIAMI TRIUMPH.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka sealed a historic Sunshine Double with a hard-
fought three-set victory over Coco Gauff to retain her Miami Open crown.
Sabalenka dominated early, cruising through the opening set 6-2 without facing a
break point.
Gauff responded with resilience in the second, capitalising on errors to level the
match 6-4 and ignite the home crowd.
However, the top seed regained control in the decider, racing into an early lead
before sealing a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory to secure back-to-back titles in Miami, just
weeks after her Indian Wells Open triumph.
The win makes Sabalenka only the fifth woman to complete the Sunshine Double
and just the third to surpass 10 WTA 1000 titles, capping a remarkable month, both
on and off the court.
Gauff, despite the defeat, took positives from her run to a maiden Miami final
following recent injury concerns, describing the week as a rewarding step forward.
