Denis Shapovalov capped a stunning run at the Dallas Open with a 7-6 (7/5), 6-3 victory over world number five Casper Ruud, securing his third career ATP title.
The unseeded Canadian took down three top-10 players, including Taylor Fritz and defending champion Tommy Paul, en route to the biggest trophy of his career.
After battling injuries, Shapovalov credited his team for helping him return to form.
“It has been a long road back,” he said. “These titles wouldn’t be possible without them.”
With the win, Shapovalov jumps 22 places to 32nd in the ATP rankings, marking a remarkable resurgence.
