Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been handed a tough Group B draw for the 2025 U-20 AFCON, where they will battle Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco for a place in the knockout stage.
The draw, conducted at CAF headquarters in Cairo on Thursday, sees Nigeria face Egypt in the group phase for the second consecutive tournament. In 2023, the Flying Eagles edged the Young Pharaohs 1-0 en route to a third-place finish.
The competition, set for April 26 to May 18 in Ivory Coast, doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile. The top two teams from each group, along with the best two third-placed sides, will advance to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, head coach Aliyu Zubairu has invited 30 players to camp ahead of friendlies against Egypt on February 25 and 27 in Cairo. The Flying Eagles, seven-time African champions, are aiming for another title to add to their rich history.
