FUDMA Expels One Student, Rusticates 51 Others Over Exam Malpractice
The management of Federal University, Dutsinma has approved the expulsion of one student and the rustication of 51 others over examination misconduct.
The decision was reached during the institution’s 139th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 5, 2026, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Mohammed Khalid Othman.
In a statement issued by the university’s Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul, the affected students were found guilty of various examination offences committed during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to the statement, the disciplinary measures were taken in line with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3(c) of the university’s Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconduct.
The university disclosed that the students appeared before FUDMA’s Committee on Examination Misconduct, which recommended sanctions later approved by the Senate.
The latest sanctions bring the total number of students disciplined for examination-related offences in the institution to 72, following the rustication of 20 students in March 2026.
The rustication, which will last for two semesters, is expected to take effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.
Students affected by the disciplinary action were drawn from several faculties, including Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computing, and the College of Education.
While one student was expelled outright, others received varying punishments for different forms of examination malpractice.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and maintaining strict disciplinary standards against misconduct capable of damaging the institution’s credibility.
