The Kaduna State Government has intensified efforts to improve access to tertiary education, recording significant progress on the construction of the access road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.

Providing an update on Monday, the Kaduna State Roads Agency announced that the project has reached an advanced stage, highlighting the state’s broader push to enhance infrastructure around academic institutions and improve connectivity in emerging education hubs.

In a statement shared via its X handle, the agency disclosed that the stone base phase of the road has been completed, marking a major milestone in the construction process.

“With stone base works now fully completed, the project has progressed to the application of MC1 on the access road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia,” the agency said.

The road project forms part of ongoing interventions by the state government to address infrastructure gaps surrounding key institutions, particularly newly established federal universities that often face challenges such as poor road access and limited connectivity.

KADRA described the initiative as a strategic effort to complement federal investments in education while also unlocking development opportunities in surrounding communities.

“This key project, executed by the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, is aimed at supporting a Federal Government-owned tertiary institution and improving connectivity within the area,” the statement added.

The agency further noted that the ongoing priming stage would pave the way for asphalt laying, a critical step toward the project’s completion.

“The current phase sets the tone for the imminent commencement of asphalt laying, bringing the project closer to completion and ensuring a smooth, durable road that will significantly benefit the university community and adjoining areas,” it said.

Upon completion, the road is expected to ease transportation challenges for students and staff, while also stimulating economic activities in Kachia and nearby communities—reinforcing the link between infrastructure development and educational advancement.
