Shock in Nollywood as Actor Alex Ekubo Reportedly Dies

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following reports of the death of popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed on Tuesday by several of his colleagues, who took to social media to express grief and disbelief over the actor’s sudden passing.

Actor Mofe Duncan reacted emotionally to the reports, writing, “Oh Alex! Oh dear God, why?” as fans and colleagues continued to mourn the tragic loss.

Also reacting, Bolanle Ninalowo offered prayers for Ekubo’s family and loved ones. He wrote, “Rest on Alex. May God heal your family and us all.”

Another actor, Godwin Nnadiekwe, described Ekubo as a rare talent whose death has left the Nollywood industry devastated. According to him, the revelation that the late actor had reportedly prepared his will before his death made the situation even more painful.

“I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alex Ekubo,” he wrote. “To think you already prepared your will — it’s a heartbreak I can’t quite describe. Rest well, my friend.”

Ekubo’s last social media post was reportedly made in December 2024, shortly after news broke that his engagement had been called off.

Widely admired for his versatility, charisma, and striking looks, Alex Ekubo built a successful career in Nollywood and remained one of the industry’s most recognised faces.
