“If There’s Money, I’ll Quit Acting” — Deyemi Okanlawon Open to Becoming House Husband
Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has revealed that he would gladly become a house husband if his wife earned significantly more money than him.
Speaking during an appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, the actor said he would have no problem stepping away from his acting career to focus on caring for his family if his wife became the primary breadwinner.
According to Okanlawon, his ultimate goal is to remain valuable to his household, regardless of societal expectations or traditional gender roles.
“I pray to God my wife hits a business that earns between $1 million and $10 million per year. You won’t see me act again,” he said.
The actor added that he would willingly take on domestic responsibilities, including taking the children to school and cooking, despite admitting he does not currently know how to cook.
“If there is money, I don’t mind being a house husband. What are you doing again?” he added.
Okanlawon also addressed the discomfort some men feel when their partners earn more than they do, noting that such situations can create insecurity and unnecessary tension in relationships.
“I find that a lot of men are not comfortable with that dynamic, so they become hypersensitive and complain over little things,” he said.
The actor concluded by saying that his greatest desire is to continue being an important and supportive figure in his family’s life, irrespective of gender expectations.
Damilola Okanlawon and the actor got married in January 2013 and have three children together.
