SUPER EAGLES COMPLETE UNITY CUP BACK-TO-BACK TRIUMPH.
Nigeria produced a commanding display to beat Jamaica 3-0 in the Unity Cup final at The
Valley in London, sealing a record fourth title and back-to-back triumphs in the competition.
Alhassan Yusuf set the tone early, striking inside two minutes to give the Super Eagles full
control of the contest. From that moment, Eric Chelle’s side dictated proceedings and never
looked back.
The dominance was eventually reflected on the scoreboard in the 59th minute when the captain, Terem Moffi, converted from Femi Azeez’s delivery to double the lead. Yusuf then added his second deep into stoppage time to complete a comfortable victory.
Nigeria, which had needed penalties to beat Jamaica in last year’s final, ensured there was no
repeat of that drama this time, delivering a far more ruthless and composed performance.
Moffi led by example throughout the tournament in the absence of more established names,
while debutant Azeez continued his impressive breakthrough with another assist after his
semi-final heroics.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo also finished the competition without conceding a goal,
underlining a flawless run that saw Nigeria dominate from start to finish.
The result confirms Nigeria as the most successful side in Unity Cup history, with four titles
and growing momentum under Chelle’s evolving squad.
